On Thursday 5th October visitors to our Open Evening were greeted by our fantastic samba band welcoming them to the school with exciting sounds of Brazil.
Visitors were offered the opportunity of a personalised tour from one of our Year11 Prefects and Year 10 and 11 Ambassadors to all curriculum areas, see examples of pupil work and information about the extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities we offer our pupils. Our younger visitors had the chance to win some exciting prizes by completing our Scavenger Hunt, solving the answer to questions based on information displayed around the school. The quality of the entrants was impressive and we managed to give away lots of prizes.
The evening included presentations from our Headteacher, Lynnette Parvez, our Head Boy, and our Head Girl and two of our Year 7 pupils..
During the evening, as well as visiting a wide ranges of classrooms and taking part in a number of activities, visitors were kept entertained with wonderful musical performances from our choir, a cello and clarinet duo and a pianist. Visitors were also able to see our extract from our recent successful Drama production The Bottom of the Lake.
We had such positive feedback from our guests, they particularly appreciated the warm welcome, the presentations by our headteacher and pupils and the interaction with staff and pupils.. When asked if there was any way to improve our Open Evenings comments included, “Nothing really. It was very informative and made me change my mind!. Also our guide was great!”, “it was amazing” , “I think it was excellent, very positive”.
