At Kelmscott school, all staff prioritise the safety of students at all times. Prevention and education are the most effective ways of keeping students safe.

Please read our Safeguarding policy for more detailed information.

Staff working in and for our school service share an objective to help keep children and young people safe by contributing to:

  • Providing a safe environment for children and young people to learn and develop and

  • Identifying children and young people who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm and taking appropriate action to make sure they are kept safe both at home and school.

We recognise that:

  • Some children may be especially vulnerable to abuse;

  • Children who are abused or neglected may find it difficult to develop a sense of self-worth and view the world positively. Whilst at school, their behaviour may be challenging:

  • Children can be victims and perpetrators of abuse;

  • Children who harm others may be abused themselves;

  • Allegations may be made against staff, however careful and safe our recruitment practices;

  • Our safeguarding policy will be reviewed and known to everyone working in the school and the governing body. It will be available to parents online.

Please see the links below on a range of subjects that will help you understand how to keep your child safe, spot danger signs and offer you support and advice.
