Headteacher's Weekly Update - 16th December 2022

I hope this letter finds you well as we reach the end of the first term, following a challenging,

snowy and icy week.

Many thanks for your patience and support this week as we moved to remote learning on

Monday and later starts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The extra time in the morning

was very helpful to students and staff travelling in, many of whom come from quite a distance

away. It was also helpful, having some additional time to plan cover lessons internally, as levels

of staff absence were high as a result of the weather and train strikes.

I was pleased that we still managed to have the majority of the events we traditionally have,

such as Celebration Assemblies, Non-Uniform Day yesterday and the Christmas Lunch on

Wednesday. As always, students have coped well with the challenges that this week (and term)

have brought. Can I also take this opportunity to thank staff for their flexibility and hard work

this week, as we have juggled things to ensure we retain a degree of normality.

We weren’t able to run our Illuminations Evening on Tuesday, as a result of the conditions, but

will reschedule this for the new year.

advertised a few weeks’ ago. There are limited places available for some of the slots. Details

accompany this letter, please have a look if this might be of interest to you.

Congratulations to Love Ogundipe 7O and Patryk Strzyzowski 7K, for topping the rewards points

charts last week with 30 rewards points each; keep up the good work.

Students return to school, following the holidays, on Wednesday 4th January at the usual

time and through the usual gates.

Can I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Christmas, for those that celebrate, and a happy holiday to everyone else. I hope you manage a fun yet restful break. Many thanks for your ongoing support this term and here’s to a happy and healthy 2023.

Yours sincerely

Mr Sam Jones
