Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

Kelmscott is a co-educational community school for students aged 11 to 17.  All aspects of the school including ‘student achievement’, ‘behaviour’ and ‘quality of teaching’ were deemed to be very good at our last Ofsted inspection.

Your son or daughter will be made to feel very welcome, valued and well looked after within our school community.  We believe our success is built upon the professionalism and commitment of all our staff – teaching and support - and a shared set of values.

Our school motto is ‘Putting Learning First’ and this is something that is at the heart of everything we do.  The everyday experience for all students here is exciting, engaging yet challenging.  Learning is meticulously planned both inside and outside the classroom.  Students develop a love of learning at Kelmscott and a real appreciation of the Arts within a very broad and balanced curriculum.

We are also one of the only state schools in the country to offer Classics to all of our students.  Students enjoy studying Latin, Ancient Greek or Classical Civilisations in Years 7-9.

They can then continue their studies at GCSE should they choose. As a result, students leave us at the end of Year 11 or 12 with the qualifications and skills required to excel in the next stage of their lives and into adulthood.

We are proud to reflect the population of Waltham Forest, with a good mix of boys and girls from all ethnic groups in our borough. We see the positive relationships and strong appreciation of different cultures between all those groups, as a real strength of the school.  Our additional motto (that changes year on year) is "Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. Speak up, speak out".  This builds on work we are doing to empower our young people to "call out" sexist, racist and homophobic behaviour that they may encounter.

We value the relationship we have with our families and know that when we work together, great things happen. We are proud of our school community and are always willing to provide families and visitors with any further information they need.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries or if you would like a tour around school with the Headteacher.
